Share your screen. Write on it. It's recorded — annotations and all.
Pick Screen + Ink in the Record tab, choose a screen, window, or tab, and teach the way you would at a whiteboard: circle the thing that matters, underline the number, draw the arrow — with a pen, highlighter, shapes, or a fading laser pointer. Everything is composited into the clip as you speak, so what you save is the finished lecture video. Prefer a blank canvas? Whiteboard mode gives you a white, grid, or dark board where your writing is the lesson.
Why writing on screen beats a plain screencast
A cursor is easy to lose; ink is not. When you circle the total on an invoice, highlight the line of code that changed, or draw the arrow from cause to effect, learners follow your reasoning instead of hunting for your mouse. The laser pointer fades away on its own, so you can point at things mid-sentence without cluttering the screen — and the eraser, undo, and clear controls keep the board tidy between ideas.
The annotations are composited into the video live, at up to 1080p. There is no “export with overlay” step, no separate annotation track to sync, and nothing to re-render: stop the recording, review it, name it, and it lands in your course library as a normal clip.
Whiteboard mode: the board is the lesson
Not every lecture starts from a screen. Whiteboard mode opens a clean board — white, ruled grid, or dark — and records your writing as you talk, like a lightboard studio without the studio. It's the natural fit for math derivations, diagrams built up step by step, and language teaching.
Both modes support an optional camera bubble (your face in a corner circle) and microphone narration, and both respect the same recording allowance as every other capture mode — the first clips of every course are free, and recording itself never bills.
From recording to published lecture
Saved clips appear in the course library on the Record tab, organized along your outline. From there, “Use in course” places a clip as a full-frame slide or a whole lecture, and the Content tab can put it on any slide. Mix annotated screencasts with AI-generated slides and voiceover in the same course — the studio doesn't care which path each lecture takes.
